Good Running Weather

Great running weather. February 18th, and almost 50 degrees. The sun was out and I wanted to get my run in early. Noon had about the high for the day. Then it cooled off and the snow started again, bringing a nasty cold rain with it. It will be close to 50 again by the end of the week. I enjoyed the sunshine for a while though. I did about 5 miles today, and it felt pretty good. I have been researching a couple of races to do this year. I basically look for something different or atleast in a different place for me. I saw a "Spartan Race" that is pretty close to me in July, and a "Tough Mudder." Both look pretty interesting. We'll have to see how this year plays out.

winter wanderland

It snowed a little last night, maybe an inch or so. It was in the 30's and threatening to cool down some more in the next few days. I decided to run before the weather got too nasty. I am after all a bit fragile when it comes to cold and wind. I did about 2 1/2 or 3 miles at an easy pace. I found a race to think about. Its part of the Tough Mudder series. It looks fun and a bit hard core. The closest one around here is at the end of April. We'll just have to see how things go. In the mean time, we'll just keep on keepin on.

Winter fun

We went to Lewisburg today. It is where Bucknell University is. They were having a Winterfest, and we thought it would be a nice day trip. Also, there was  a Polar Plunge into the Susquehanna River and I wanted to do one, so it seemed like a good way to spend the day. The weather was in the 30's so it was a manageable plunge. Not too "polarbearish." They had some ice sculptures throughout town and Joann and I found a seat on an ice throne. Of course we found somewhere to grab a burger and a beer to round out the trip. It is just the kind of guy I am.

Be active, life is NOT a spectactor sport

50 and fit

It is February 1st and the temperature is in the low 50's. Excellent running weather for this time of year (or really any time of year). I went to Nay Aug Park and did a few laps. I ran on the trails because usually they are covered with snow at this time of year. There were a lot of people there. Some were walking, a few were running and I must have seen about 10 dogs walking their owners. It was nice to see so many active people. There is no reason that some of those that were walking today, can't be walking or running 6 monthes from now. We'll have to see how many stick it out.
Be active, be happy
